Morris possessed an eye for how rooms come alive when bodies fill them. In his travels as a restaurant designer, across diners and bars, dining halls and dance halls, Morris painted the crowded, comic, unsparing life of people gathered together. These art brut works depict figures rendered raw and direct, the social warmth and the loneliness of the crowd held in the same frame.
